Join the Community

A group of neighbors has come together to make sure the developer at 5 Redlands Rd follows the rules, and that residents are informed every step of the way.

Our goal is simple: protect the safety of families in need while also protecting the safety and character of our neighborhood.

We believe this shelter is not appropriate for the site and should not be allowed to open. It is a large institutional facility, a model that has already been proven unsafe and ineffective for helping families, and one that has been shut down across the state.

The application is filled with errors, the zoning has been misrepresented, and no operating plan has been shared with the public.

We’re working to demand transparency, ensure proper zoning review, and give the community a real voice in decisions that affect us all. By joining us, you’ll help share information, organize outreach, and hold decision-makers accountable.

Together, we can make sure this failed model does not move forward here, and that both families in need and our neighborhood are protected through a fair and responsible process.

Call Elected Officials

Ask for answers on how they have allowed this project to proceed in this way.  Urge them to pause occupancy and send this project to the ZBA for a full review of the plan.

Suggested Script:
“Hello, my name is [Your Name] and I live near 5 Redlands Road in West Roxbury. I’m very concerned about the shelter project moving forward in this way.
The normal process for a project like this is to share a detailed operating plan, publish impact studies, hold public meetings with residents and officials, and bring the use to the ZBA for a full review. How has this been allowed to proceed in this manner?

I’m asking you to please urge the City to pause issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy until a public meeting is held, and to require this project to go to the Zoning Board of Appeals for full review. Thank you for supporting transparency and protecting our neighborhood.”
